The main contribution is the PAPILAv2 regional emission inventory for South America covering the period 2014 – 2020. This is a high-resolution local emission inventory combined with global emission inventories through a mosaic approach. PAPILAv2 expands on its predecessor by incorporating greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4) and particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, BC, OC) in addition to reactive gases (CO, NOx, NMVOC, NH3, SO2). It uses the CAMS-GLOB-ANT v6.1 inventory as its baseline, supplemented by the EDGAR v6.1 and GFAS datasets for particulate matter and biomass burning emissions, respectively. High-resolution local data from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Ecuador were integrated ensuring consistency with CAMS’s 0.1° grid resolution. A forthcoming paper will detail the methodology, present key regional characteristics, and compare PAPILA v2.0 with other global and regional inventories, highlighting the improvements achieved through the mosaic approach.
