North America Working Group for Integrated Atmospheric Chemistry Research
The United States has a long history of atmospheric chemistry research and has advanced observational and modeling capabilities. Canada and Mexico have strong atmospheric chemistry research programs and collaboration across all three countries often occurs on specific projects. This working group seeks to strengthen these connections, build connections with other North American countries, and provide an ongoing forum for efficient discussion of atmospheric chemistry research across the continent. Participation is open to scientists and air quality managers from any country in North America, including nations (or U.S. Territories) in the Caribbean and Central America. Discussions across North American scientists can inform the coordination of research efforts across state, regional, and federal government agencies, academia, and non-profit research organizations.
The main objectives of the North America Working Group will be to 1) provide a discussion forum that can inform the coordination of research efforts on topics relevant across North America, 2) discuss longer-term efforts to address gaps in understanding atmospheric composition in North America, and 3) connect the research needs of North America with efforts around the world through the broader IGAC community.
